Clinical Supervision & Supervision Groups

Working in the caring professions means that, as practitioners, we all need help and support at some time. BACP guidelines state that counsellors should undertake 1.5 hours of supervision per month.

Supervision is not just about overseeing someone’s practice - it's about ensuring the safety of clients and creating a safe environment for supervisees to grow and develop as professional therapists. I strive to encourage my supervisees' development and acknowledge their natural talents to build their confidence and professionalism.

Effective counselling relies heavily on the emotional health and wellbeing of the counsellor or therapist and supervision helps to maintain this. Supervision can enhance the skills of the supervisee, leading to improved outcomes with the client. I work in a structured, integrative, way using cognitive behavioural therapy, psychodynamic and systemic theories.

But it's not just for counsellors...

All practitioners working in the helping or caring professions - from staff who work in hospices and care homes to nurses and teachers, for example - can benefit from regular supervision. This support can take the form of both individual and/or group sessions.

Supervision is based on development and aims to help the supervisee reflect on all dimensions of his/her practice within their profession. It is not 'management support', rather a space to help maintain practitioner wellbeing.
